You are dedicated, Teach!

There’s a well known principal that I follow on YouTube. In the video link I pasted below, he points out how difficult teaching can be…but part of the ending message says “ We are still dedicated.” Think about that... Teaching is tough—there are no two ways about it. Yet here we are striving anyway (doing our best anyway). Keep being a great educator. Hang in there no matter what. Yes—“WE ARE STILL DEDICATED!” Enjoy the vid and keep up the love and dedication.

As always, hang in there, Teach.
Happy Teaching,
Frank

Kudos to you, Teach

At the beginning of Harry Wong's well known book entitled The First Days of School, he has the following memo: "Dedicated to my father and mother, who wanted me to be a brain surgeon.  I exceeded their expectations.  I became a scholar and a teacher."  Kudos to each of you for exceeding average expectations by becoming an educator!  That's right, you are more capable than a brain surgeon in so many ways.  NEVER FORGET HOW AMAZING YOU ARE!  Keep it up!!!

As always, hang in there, Teach!

P.S. The First Days of School, is a classic book for educators that breaks down each essential component of classroom management.  I'm convinced every teacher should read it and own a copy of it.  If you are wanting to purchase it, please do so at the link below since I get a commission (though small) off of each purchase from this link. This edition also includes a DVD, which is a real plus. Thanks!

Connect with the Kids, Teach!

Connect! Today’s tip for us educators to hang in there is to connect. I know I am a lot happier as a teacher when I’m connecting with the kids (not to mention my colleagues). It seems so simple, but stop and think about it. We have to worry about data and admin expectations and parental satisfaction and meeting all the standards and much much more. Without realizing it, we often stop connecting to the kids under the pressure of our other demands. Focus on connecting with students along with your other  responsibilities and watch yourself get a little bit of spring back in your step!
As always, hang in there, Teach.
Happy Teaching,

Why this blog title?

Hang in there, Teach!  I once taught an adorable--yet spunky--first grade girl that liked to call me, "Teach" instead of "Teacher."  One day after dismissal, she poked her head back in the door and said, "Hang in there, Teach!"  That's a message we all need to be reminded of from time to time.  Just hang in there.  Testing time?  Hang in there.  Cold winter months? Hang in there.  Crazy holiday in the classroom?  Hang in there.  Wild class this year?  Hang in there.  Whatever the situation, teaching can be tough.  HANG IN THERE!

With this blog, I hope to have short uplifting daily messages to help us educators hang in there.

As always, hang in there, Teach.
Happy Teaching,
Frank
